Dan started his career in Gravure by joining the family business, WRE/ColorTech in 1977. Going to school in the morning and working at night, he received a BS degree in Business Administration with a minor in Production Management from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. At work, he learned all phases of producing gravure cylinders. Those were the Direct Transfer days and he became proficient at plating, laydown, staging, etching, finishing and proofing. In the 1980’s and 90’s, electromechanical engraving became his focus. Working with equipment suppliers as well as other engravers, Dan helped develop the fledgling electromechanical engraving software and hardware processes to its full potential. In the last decade, as Vice President of Operations, he has been responsible for the continued advancement of all WRE/ColorTech’s facilities, specifically as it pertains to automation and efficiencies. This is an exciting time for WRE/ColorTech as well as the Gravure industry and he looks forward to a bright future. Dan is a member of the Gravure Cylinder Society, past Chairman of Ohio Users Group and Gravure Cylinder Users Group.
