As we move further in to 2021, there are many exciting developments ahead for the GAA. New partnerships, continued support for the future of the industry, a return to training seminars and workshops, and an ever-growing membership are highlights for the rest of the year to come.
The Power of Partnership
In an effort to keep serving our membership with dedicated attention, programming, and events, the GAA board of directors is pleased to announce a new partnership with AIMCAL (Association of International Metallizers Coaters and Laminators) to combine the operations of GAA and AIMCAL.
For the past year, GAA has operated through the efforts of the Executive Committee and a group of volunteers. The decision to combine operations with AIMCAL will provide a full-time support team providing a stable operating environment for the association.
A sincere thank you to all those who have supported the Association over the past year, with generous donations and tireless effort. This new partnership will provide more resources and opportunities to participate for all members of the association going forward.
The process of combining operations with AIMCAL will be completed in August 2021. Please go to the joint press release: https://gaa.org/gaa-to-combine-operations-with-aimcal/
The Future Looks Bright
There is great news to share about the Gravure Endowment Fund (GEF) and the important role it plays in ensuring there will be qualified professionals for the future of the gravure industry.
The mission to support and nurture the next generation of Gravure professionals will continue unabated through PGSF; the Technical Writing Competition, scholarships and grants will continue in 2021.
We are happy to announce that, as part of the agreement with AIMCAL, a new Endowment of $25,000.00 will be established in the name of GAA/AIMCAL.
Thanks to American Cylinder Products, Interprint, and Fres-co for continuing their Scholarship for 2021.
GAA’s Gravure Seminars & Certifications are BACK!
After having to cancel last year’s training events because of the pandemic, we’re pleased to announce all seminars will be returning in 2021. The events will be held virtually this year, and have been optimized with a new format that runs over multiple half-day periods – allowing attendees to balance their schedules against being on press or attending to day-to-day business.
The first event to return will be the ever-popular Basic Seminar, being held virtually on May 4th, 5th & 6th of 2021.
Go to https://gaa.org/event/basic-advanced-gravure-seminars/ to register.
On-site Training/On-site Consulting will resume as soon as travel restrictions are lifted. In the interim, we are continuing to deliver mentored training, featuring our technical experts in a virtual format.
There are three levels of Certification training:
- Level 1 Assistant Certification (suitable for assistants and especially new hires)
- Level 2 Operator Certification (suitable for experienced press operators)
- Level 3 Application Specialist Certification (suitable for non-pressroom personnel and sales)
Special Member pricing has been established for the Certifications:
