GRAVURE FORUM at AIMCAL R2R
This past year has handed us all a bunch of lemons… and it’s time we start making lemonade! Over the past year, AIMCAL and GAA have been working hard to make sure our memberships have access to the events, tools, training, and networking opportunities so important to their businesses.
Announcing the formation of Gravure AIMCAL Alliance (GAA)
The GAA name is headed towards a strong, robust future thanks to our new partnership with the Association of International Metallizers Coaters and Laminators (AIMCAL).
Slated to take effect on August 1, 2021, Gravure Association of the Americas will become part of AIMCAL. Our current membership will automatically be entitled to all the benefits enjoyed by AIMCAL members. All existing benefits, products and services will continue under the banner of Gravure AIMCAL Alliance and can be found at www.gaa.org.
As we move further in to 2021, there are many exciting developments ahead for the GAA. New partnerships, continued support for the future of the industry, a return to training seminars and workshops, and an ever-growing membership are highlights for the rest of the year to come.
October was “rally mode” month for the Gravure Industry. The ERA European Rotogravure Association held their Annual Conference & Management Meeting in Hamburg Germany on October 5th and 6th with 50 delegates participating. As part of the AIMCAL R2R virtual conference, GAAmericas provided eight speakers in the first-ever “Gravure Tracks.” The first Gravure track with four speakers took place October 21st and the second Gravure track with four additional speakers was held on October 23rd. Then, on October 23rd The Italian Rotogravure Group held their inaugural Roto4All event. Even though it was moved to a virtual gathering at the last minute, an impressive 430 participants logged in and followed the presentations. Indeed, October a month where gravure was in definitely in the forefront.
As we all continue to operate in the midst of the pandemic, we wanted to take a moment to thank all of our members for their ongoing support. We are grateful for everything members are doing to help out during these difficult times. Our team of volunteers have been encouraged and inspired, and many tasks have been undertaken and completed, including:
Greetings to all who value the Gravure Process from Lou DeFlaviis, Chair of the GAA Board of Directors. Like so many other businesses, The Gravure Association of the Americas has seen a reduction in revenue from the cancellation of in-person events due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In order to maintain operations and continue to serve our members at a high professional level, the Association is currently being managed by the Executive Committee and a group of volunteers and we have reduced overhead as much as possible to stretch budgets until better days return.
